About Us

Howdy! I'm Bob. My wife and I own Lakeshore Bait & Tackle in Clearlake, CA. I'm originally from the East Coast. I was born in Albany, NY and grew up in Hopkinton, MA. After high school, I spent a decade in the Navy as an ET. I left the Navy in '95 as an ET1(SW) and joined the police department in Santa Rosa, CA. I was a cop there until the end of 2004 when an injury forced my retirement. My last four years there were spent doing Accident Investigation & Reconstruction in the Traffic Unit. I loved reconstruction work, but decided to do something for myself when that career ended.

Bob and wife, Brianna, enjoy a double-hookup!

We opened our store at the beginning of 2005. We're a small shop trying to stay true to the family owned, family operated shops that have historically served this community so well. We know our customers by name. We extend quality service to everyone that walks through the door. We treat customers as friends and family. Sounds a bit cheesy, but the truth is that there are plenty of big carry-it-all stores around... But the service isn't there. We're not bass pros, we don't fish competitively or guide for money. We're honest folks that delight in our customer's positive fishing experiences. And that extends from the father & son first timers to our daily regulars right on up to our seasoned tournament guys. Oh, and we've got kids - boys. One or more of them are usually here. It's a family thing. Plan on dodging a toy or two (or maybe an active toddler) as you make your way around our shop...

Line winding. Yep, we do that. Takes a minute or two, but we'll take care of you that way. Rod tip closed in the door. Yeah, we do that. Give me about 5 minutes and you're back in action. Stepped on your rod and busted a guide. You can pick it up in a day or two - fixed! Reels? I'm usually about a week out, but there isn't anything I don't work on. Dirty ol' 6/0 Penn reels, that you found in the garage, that you caught your last trophy on twenty years ago... I'll get it back into working order for you. Bearings screaming on that Curado? You really shouldn't dunk it in the lake to lubricate it, but I'll take care of that for you. Want to hot rod a reel. Deck it out with carbon fiber drags and ceramic hybrid bearings... Now we're having some fun!

We've got bass, catfish, bluegill, and crappie stuff. Trout and kokanee gear, too. Live baits? We carry five different types of live worms and three sizes of live minnows (Golden Shiners). Frozen baits? Shad, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, clams, shrimp, livers... Let me know what you need.

You get the idea. Call or drop on by sometime. Or send me an email at Bob@994Fish.com.

Our Mission Statement:
To provide anglers with quality products and services to further the enjoyment of our sport. We will strive to educate anglers, both young and old, about our sport as we work towards conservation of our fishing resources. We believe strongly that introducing children to fishing is how we can ensure that fishing continues to be fun and exciting for generations to come.

Take a child fishing!     Take your WIFE fishing!     Take a friend fishing!
